On March 21, 2005, Missy’s life changed forever when a former student shot his way into her classroom, killing five students and a co-worker. In the months that followed, she was broken, numb, and overwhelmed by grief, guilt, and pain. At her lowest point, Missy discovered the principles of the 12 Steps of addiction recovery and learned a powerful truth: her life had become unmanageable, and she could not heal alone.
Through surrender, honest self-reflection, and the support of others, she began the difficult work of trauma recovery. What began with simply trying to survive, unfolded into a lifelong journey of healing while coming to terms with the weight of that day.
This session offers hope and insight for anyone navigating trauma, grief, or life-altering events, reminding us that recovery is not about forgetting, but about learning to live and grow again.
